A few months (?) ago... (good golly this blog is behind) we attended a Music Night at Jack's School. As you can see, it was themed "Sing America."
Jack had a handful of adoring fans (yes that is what Alaster looked like pretty much the entire time... don't you love his hands on his lap?!?):
Jack had been looking forward to this night for months and months. He talked about it nearly every day after school.
During the actual performance (For which I forgot to take off his jacket when they herded him into the little holding station! Rats!) he acted exactly like I thought he would. So JACK.
He was obviously excited and proud and happy we were there. He wanted so badly to show us, but he was determined to hold it all in... a little embarrassed... not wanting to show too much.
He would look over at us, smile, quickly pull the smile back in, and focus on the task at hand.
At first he just sang and didn't do the movements to the songs like the rest of his class:

Then when the instruments came out:
(for which he kept telling me he was "an alternate,"... I think he was secretly wishing someone would get sick and not show...)

He loosened up and started doing the actions (again in such a JACK way):
And then came his FAVORITE part. He was the head ant for "The Ants Go Marching." Meaning he lead out all the other kids as the ants-went-marching one-by-one Hurrah! Hurrah! More and more kids followed with each verse:
His other favorite moment of the night was when they sang in Spanish. Pretty cool.
All in all we thought it was a very nice program and we were thankful for his great music teacher. She is obviously very talented and works well with the children.
Now for our absolute favorite photo of the night. Jack was doing the actions at this point, but again, didn't want to be too happy about the whole thing. Two little fingers suffice for him instead of arms wide up and open:
