A New Holiday Tradition

Some of you may know I have a LONG STANDING TRADITION of watching my favorite movie every winter, alone. Well... as much fun as I have doing it by myself, this year I decided to invite some near and dear ones to join me, and I fear a fabulous new holiday tradition has been initiated.

I made THIS homemade slow cooker hot chocolate (it was WAY too sweet/rich for me. I would cut the sweetened condensed milk in half and only use milk) and THESE favorite rolls. I also served clementines because what is a holiday party without clementines, I ask you?
Add mini marshmallows, whipped cream, butter, jam and voila! You have the perfect treats for watching Little Women. (Plus it was low-stress. Look at me! I am growing right before your very eyes!)
Oh those rolls! I could eat them every day...

To make it a truly special night, even more important than the food was the company:

I had originally invited quite a large gaggle of girls, but due to a date change and other complications it ended up being a small gathering. I was joined in the end by my very dear friends Emily, JaNae, Alysa, Rachel and Catherine.
I told everyone to come with the intention of being comfortable not cute... so we were mostly in pj's and mostly make-upless. Guess what? They were still gorgeous, because they have the kind of beauty that lasts. Don't you agree?

I absolutely love these girls. We had such a fun time watching the movie and staying up talking. We ended at about midnight when we figured we absolutely had to call it quits.
We talked about the movie... we talked about life and families... but mostly we talked about our husbands.

We each told our love story. How we met... our first handholds and kisses... how we knew he was the one... the qualities that stood out... etc. etc. etc.
Each story was totally unique and special, but there were some definite similarities as well.

I absolutely loved hearing my friends share their stories. They talked about things like "finally feeling that fire..." "knowing I would be taken care of..." and receiving a surprising "deep spiritual confirmation he was the one..." after an unexpectedly short time.

It was like a teenage sleepover on the flip side. Instead of talking about our hopes and dreams... we were talking about how they came true.

I got to share with them what it was about Corey too, and after they left I called him (all kinds of swooney... can you imagine after a night like that?!?) and asked what stood out to him about me too. I am thinking those stories deserve their own post... maybe a series of posts that documents our early love? I am pretty sure they aren't recorded anywhere. Sound fun? Let's start tomorrow!

Anyway, Thank you my dear friends for coming to my night. And more importantly: Thank you for being in my life! I think you are each beautiful, intelligent, talented, lovely ladies and I loved getting to know you even better!
